Igor Terekhov meets with architects Today, on 24 March, Mayor Igor Terekhov met with teachers, postgraduate students and students of the O.M. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy, who specialise in architecture, urbanism and urban planning.

The mayor stressed the importance of close cooperation between the scientific community and the city authorities for the effective recovery of Kharkiv.

‘It is very important that we have a clear plan for the development of the city, focused not only on the reconstruction of the affected areas, but also on the creation of modern residential complexes, public spaces and social infrastructure. We need systematic cooperation with you, the experts who understand how to make Kharkiv comfortable and safe to live in,’ said Igor Terekhov.

The mayor stressed that Kharkiv's recovery should be based on a comprehensive approach that includes the rebuilding of residential areas, the creation of social infrastructure and the attraction of investors. He noted that Kharkiv is already actively cooperating with international partners, including the foundation of British architect Norman Foster and financial institutions that are ready to join the future reconstruction.

As part of the meeting, students and teachers presented several research and practical projects on the current state of Kharkiv's historic buildings and proposals for their restoration and sustainable development of the city based on the use of modern digital technologies. 

Ihor Terekhov presented the best students and teachers with the Certificates of Honour from the Executive Committee of the Kharkiv City Council.
